‘[470] The most egregious problem with the Economic Order, in our view, is that personal banking information belonging to individuals who were suspected of having committed offences under the Regulations could be shared with the RCMP and CSIS without a warrant or any form of prior authorization, which information could well have provided evidence of offences under the Regulations.’
Commenter. 'The ultimate outcome here will almost certainly be a re-writing of the emergencies act to make it easier to use. While I mostly agree that the court's ruling is probably correct, the people who sued will do nothing but make the act more applicable as the government looks at it ad broadens its language to make it applicable to more situations.'
Commenter. 'I am very thankful that the rule of law prevailed against political will. To be honest, when this whole thing began, I wasn't sure it would.' Reply. ‘People were so burnt out and bloodthirsty two years into the pandemic with an “out group” in their crosshairs. I think the madness has passed and now everyone can look at the situation a bit more clearly.’
