Secretive Border Patrol program is detaining US citizens for ‘suspicious’ travel (youtube.com)
Flags citizens or anyone for driving the system deems suspicious travel within the US. The agent stops him for some ticket, then asks him to exit the vehicle and seats him in the agent's vehicle. This is for a ticket, not a crime, so exiting the vehicle is weird. He asks to search and the citizen says no and the agent says they'll use a K9 then. The K9 finds something, ‘a positive alert’ so they detain him while they search this.
Many in the comments noted that the dog didn't look like it gave any positive alert, maybe it just looked like it wanted to get in the car.
The man was pulled over for ‘drifting over the line.’
‘License plate readers are incredibly powerful surveillance. They are collecting mass information about who people are, where they go, what they do, and who they know, and that information is now being weaponized by the federal government to identify, track and arrest community members.’
US Gestapo?
Texas.
The man filed a suit against the agents, alleging an illegal stop and that the dog was prompted to alert regardless.
US Customs and Border Protection is set to get billions of dollars for new surveillance tech under the current federal admin.
