Iowa becomes first state to remove gender identity from civil rights code (youtube.com)
Some indie band called horsehoof or something (deerclaw?) is pulling their songs from Spotify, because they don't want to be on a platform where there's AI or something, and because Spotify only pays ‘a pittance’ anyway. For real, though, that stock has gone crazy, just a steady increase, and they're just raking in profits I guess, and it's not like they're like a label that provides anything, like promotion or whatever, they just sit there and let people put things on their platform. I'm not sure why musicians don't just organize (just a tiny little bit in this case) and jump to a proper platform. .... Oh, it turns out it was because the CEO led a funding round for a military tech company or something, and the band, Deerhoof, didn't want their music to contribute to killing people.
Coders out there, there's a big opportunity here, because while mercenary genres like hiphop or pop might not leave nomatter what, indie groups etc will. The mercenary bands will put their stuff on the alternative thing too if it gets even a little money.
The most recent (crappy, formulaic) Jurassic Park still made $1b at the box office. The upcoming one has ScarJo, as a mercenary. Looks like just a pulp formulaic thing again.
