A lot of random, different people are talking about freedom lately in a way that they haven't (for 50 or 100 years maybe), where they are for the first time considering that freedom for the current Germanic led society is do whatever you want, engage in any vices, no one will or should judge or shame you for it, but the shame and judgement are part of limitations that benefit people. Maybe people will remember self responsibility, too, coming up?
Every commercial is sports betting or pharmaceuticals, corn is ‘good for you.’ To do anything but allow people to do anything they want would be ‘oppressing them.’
Some of this might also come by way of the limitations of expression, which, no new technology or tools or ideas in decades, no new activities or ‘types of people’. People throwing themselves against the limits trying to find something to innovate, after a while they might just collectively give up. Un progression?
Literature is less limited, theoretically, or less out of possibilites.
It might be that whoever leads, whichever place or political party imposes appropriate strictures (which should expand liberty, not compromise it), will see the advantage, and other places will also see it and adopt it.
