Musk vs. Trump? Quinn Slobodian on the Risks of Billionaire Rule (youtube.com)
Trump said that Musk was fine with everything up until Trump said they'd cut the EV mandate thing (which would cost Tesla millions). Well, I guess if Trump didn't say he was going to do that until the very last week or a few days before Musk left, after Musk did all that DOGE work for the White House (and for Musk himself), although Trump said Musk ‘knew for months’ Trump was going to take away the mandate. ‘I’m very disappointed in Elon. I've helped Elon a lot,' said Trump.
Musk wrote that ‘In light of the President's statement about cancellation of my government contracts, @SpaceX will begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft immediately'. Decommissioning would mean the astronauts currently on the ISS would be stranded, since there is currently no other way to transport them.
In another possibility, it could be that word Trump was in the Epst files was going to come out anyway, and they arranged to preempt it this way.
