A group of people has apparently created hundreds of AI companies, basically the same content in the companies, the same people running them just with different titles, in order to try to control AI governance. The companies publish content and YouTube channels with the same messages. They do astroturfing, flooding the zone.
The group is referred to as EA (Effective Altruism, famous because of SBF).
Tied to Anthropic and Daria, Dustin Moskovitz. Tightly-would network. Reid Hastings just joined the Antropic board.
They want regulation of access to GPUs, AI safety and security, international agreements, ethical considerations. Establishing national and then international regulations of AI.
Sounds a lot like what the Biden group was doing, noted Sacks.
The group times alarmist press releases (about ex-risk) with funding rounds, it seems. Pursuing reduction of ex-risk, however, contrasts with reducing China winning AI. Scaring the population makes them cry out to the government to help them. More government and empowering government to the maximum extent, is what the people in this group believes in. Sacks noted that probably the greatest risk of AI is that governments will control populations with it, Orwellian, and it's the only one that we've seen evidence for (woke AI [black founding father image generation] from a year or two ago, being enshrined by the Biden, trying to anoint 2 or 3 winner companies). We're off that tragectory, Sacks said, becaues of Trump's re-election, but we could easily be back on that tragectory.
