Nepal PM quits after deadly Gen-Z corruption and social media ban protests (youtube.com)
‘Fighting against corruption.’
Organizers have dubbed it ‘The Gen Z protests.’
What happened there was on SM, there was virality about the rich lifestyles of Nepalese nepobabies. Then there was a SM ban on X, Insta, Facebook (saying they wanted to tackle fake news, hate speech, and online fraud, which the youth didn't believe). Similar bans have happened in India, China. Nepal has often allowed more (or clamped down less on) freedom of speech than its neighbors (Paki, Bangla). The youth protested, and the government quickly put armed police/military on the streets (a move that may be the cause of the violence).
There was already high youth unemployment and complaints about corruption.
‘All the youth are going outside of the country, so we want to make the country’s economy better.'
Royals in the UK send their kids to do some kind of work, whether in the army or whatever. They don't flash brand name clothing or anything luxury. And the people, at least a big part, love them. Nepalese PM's kids I guess are flashing everything on SM and indulging their prerogatives publicly.
The government ‘has clearly created a separation between the civilians and the government.’
