I think about half a year ago, I wrote how for the first time, and more or less because of the rise and election of Trump at that time, and how everyone was starting to behave, and it looked like some actual positive things were possible, that is all gone now. Every time I open YouTube and scan the news, it's very negative. Trump has passed a huge secretive spending bill, has fallen out with Elon, isn't doing any of the information publishing he said he would do, which maybe we expected, but he seems to be trying to cover it up or gaslight over it, when it would be better if he said he didn't have the power to do it and he wasn't happy. Israel seems to be ruling America, Israel is bombing Iran, and without any seeming limits set on them. War with Iran or Russia seems closer. Privacy and security and human rights seem less secure, since the president doesn't seem to care about them, having never studied them. AI and technology seem to be getting less restrictions. The tech giants seem no better and no more brought into legality. The Democrats and Republicans hate each other more than ever, or as much as ever, and of course this is useful to the politicians, but none seem to try to work against it. The Democratic states (particularly Cali) are directly opposing the federal government, and the Feds are directly going against them. No country seems like it's getting better or is any better. The good ones are all overrun with tourists and expats, and the governments don't control this (Japan, Spain, Thailand), since it makes them or their friends rich. They set higher and higher goals for tourist numbers. The people have no real power over decisions as always, and they seem so dangerous and uneducated (no civics class) you couldn't let them have power.
Trump is continuing to threaten big number tariffs on countries. Less effective, sure, but still seems a little effective, the threat, which is maybe why he's doing it.
