We made YOUR Dream Phone (youtube.com)

No OS (they considered having no BIOS), pop up selfie camera (no front camera notch), SD card slot. Sub 6 inch phone. Thicker body (because decent cameras are thick anyway, and most makers have tried to have a 'thin body' but have bumps that stick out for the cameras, so instead NothingPhone just thickened the whole body to have it flat at the thickness required for the cameras). 3800mA Silicon Carbon SiC battery.

They CT scanned a larger phone that had all the stuff they wanted and then measured all the components and tried to plan a rearrangement of them into a smaller case and CADed it.

This is what happens when the product is open to the community and responsive to it.

Many commenters said that if it can do GrapheneOS they'd buy, and some wanted to install Linux as well. Many still wanted a removable battery.

Nice to see so many people using GrapheneOS now. For a while there, the government tried to convince everyone that anyone who used GrapheneOS was a criminal, and this was kinda partially successful. But if a percentage of the population uses it, and people have seen it before, they can't accuse you. I've actually been surprised by how often I'm starting to see people saying they've been using GrapheneOS for months or a couple years, in forums like Reddit and HN.
