No, they're not. Passwords are the only means of privately protecting confidential information (like your bank). Biometrics, once hacked, you can imagine the difficulty trying to straighten that all out, and how would you ever be secure again after it?
A strong password on your end, on the end of the bank, their server monitors log in attempts (so if someone tries to login 50 times with the wrong password, security measures are triggered). Between these two things is a secure device (something your government doesn't want you to have, but you can get anyway), a some effort on your part.
