What is going on in US law? Isn't it bad enough this happened? There was a case about a baby dying of obesity-related stuff too and they charged the two parents (who did not appear particularly educated or thin).

In this case, the government is charging her saying that binge drinking alcohol 'created an unjustifiable risk.'

And giving the babies popcorn was 'conscious disregard for a known choking hazard for young children.'

The government says she can't be relied on to return to court so they're holding her in jail on $250k bail.

Is the state 'negligent' for millions of crimes because it continues to sell alcohol? Nope, because it has all the force.

Retired judges take part in march, citing threat to rule of law in America (youtube.com)

They're doing a tour throughout the state, having conversations with the public about the threat to Rule of Law.

They don't like threats from state and federal levels, degrading judicial independence. If the public believes the judiciary is partisan it might simply resort to trial by combat, one told the journalist.

'Judges are making decisions and lots are saying, "Did they do it because a political party wanted them to do it?"'

Lots has to do with Birthright Citizenship.

Something similar happened in Poland recently.

50% of Americans strongly or somewhat disapprove of the Supreme Courts work, and then lots 'aren't sure.'

Credibility is all judges have, they raised this point.

DCMA isn't proving itself useful or beneficial. YouTube, Twitter, Etsy, etc allow you (a random, lying, thieving corporation) to flag someone else (who is the actual artist or owns usage rights) for copyright and they (the actual artist) gets their account blocked or taken down until they (the actual artist) manually and painstakingly addresses it, if they even can, with the giant platform. While they (the actual artist) have to address every illegal use of their work individually (this is not made one-click automated).

Haven't heard from this issue in a while.

They want the UN to end its silence on Tibet.

This week, 'Loga Rangzen was a 42-year-old Tibetan activist and Uber driver residing in New York who died after self-immolating outside the United Nations headquarters in Manhattan on July 2, 2026.'

I didn't see it in the news. I heard about it from a friend.

How to know when a technology is actually good for citizens. The authorities tell you so, but they do it like this.

It works to some degree for them, when the user base is very small. They did it with Signal app, which later people found out the government itself was using while the government was spying on other world leaders etc through non-secure devices ie not GrapheneOS. But once the user base gets bigger the claims that people who use the tech are socially harmful people backfire against the politicians.

To combat governments attempt to suppress technologies that are actually useful for citizens, you have to reach this threshold. Not sure what the percentage or nominal figure is.

Here's a NYT post on Facebook about the GrapheneOS phone-wiping charges, and the Americans commenting show how far Americans are ahead of all other nationalities I know of in terms of civil and constitutional rights and technicalities.

Among the comments on this and other posts is that while the FedGov wants to set a precedent that citizens not be allowed to wipe their phone so border agents can't review their private data at will, without any charge or reasonable suspicion. That's what the FedGov wants, but actually this story is getting traction and will make everyone go out and get GrapheneOS phones, some suggested.

Many also noted that the Duress Code needs to be re-written to improve plausible deniability, for example it wipes real data but shows a plausible user account with apps in the phone.

Also, the man could charge the agent/government for destroying his phone contents, maybe, even though he gave the passcode that did it. There's a question of whether the agent himself is responsible/liable for 'destruction of evidence' if the government can unconstitutionally force this to be considered 'evidence'.

Currently, the border (and, technically, 100 miles of a US border which includes most major US cities) is a Constitution-free zone ie Americans have no rights either.

Citizens these days typically hide or avoid coming to a head with these government abuses which have become very common, because they don't want to be the one, and with good reason, because for decades at least the government has irresponsibly persecuted such people who stand up for or use their Constitutional rights, but maybe things have gone so far that if people currently do start challenging things, the courts and public opinion will be on their side.

This is just an example of a trend of SM videos about Europeans (and others) in the US for the first time and being so surprised by how great everything is, from food portions, to quality of groceries and clothing in big box stores.

This seems a bit suspect though, since it aligns with the White House's desires so closely, and it seems exactly the kind of thing intelligence/SM/marketing political skills in the US government could manipulate.

It's not like it's the first time Europeans have been to America. About 14m Europeans visit USA every year.

World Cup only is expected to bring 1.2m international visitors (and we might expect a ton of those to be Latinos and Asians).

Europeans visiting USA decreased in 2026, 7% lower than 2025. And bookings for World Cup and for host US cities also down.

Even search AI notes that the recent SM viral posts represent a small amount of the overall visitors.

The AI channel was trained on Rhett Shull. He assumes its a content farm from Brazil. Now Rhett has to file a takedown etc.

Also, the channel's content is just rage click bait titles, which if the creator was a real person, he would perhaps be sued for defaming the brands for the disparaging lie. Because there's no regulation around AI in the US, Rhett says, these AIs can say defaming things that a person couldn't.

It turns out the best thing you can do to combat the corporate-government exploitation of tech (SM, cameras, phones, AI generative tools) is to use them as nefariously as possible. This causes their tool to cause harm to many, including powerful institutions like talent agencies which they're less willing to take advantage of the way they are of regular people (who they see as powerless). Then, faced with this nefarious use and angry parties, they have to pull back. You could even go so far as to use their tools and platforms to harm legally and politically powerful interests, which will fight the corporo-government for people.

X will have a basically complete picture of its users, tying financial and who they make payments to, to their weekly schedule to interests and desires, to the ability to imitate them. Should any society ever allow any institution to have all these types of data at once? You're basically negating largely the ability to protest and oppose politicians, since they can control X, so negating the idea of democracy to a significant degree.

Lots of headlines and politically-excited people talking about these exits as a bad thing, but is it? Is it so bad if billionaires with 100 houses sell their unoccupied, central houses?

The only real downside I see is that people of means, who don't want to stay in a hotel for security/privacy reasons, and much less would be interested in an AirBNB, might just not be able to comfortably stay in NYC.

When politicians are elected and have careers where they are known to lie and it is accepted of them, and then they continue and reach important offices, the expectation of truth anywhere in public information and news gets reduced to basically zero. There might be some truth in there but it could just as well be lies, basically. Only when politicians have built their careers on honesty do they actually lose something when they actually do lie. And in a context where most other politicians also have built their careers on honesty and integrity. When the entire political body is just filled with people known to lie and game, and it is accepted, what chance do you have of getting any truth anywhere?

There might be something in this story, about how people have power over who succeeds, and people might want to pick and choose in who they let become a billionaire. Like if a good guy has billions and he's picking up chicks some might get a little envious but overall it's like well he's a good guy. But when someone like Gates can buy just about anyone, it's pretty disgusting and can make people kinda angry.

There's a soccer player called Erling Haaland who's taken the attention of pop culture. He's from Norway, and has been a star in international soccer since he was like 18 or 19. He's really tall (for a soccer player) and funny looking, but in a cutesy, nonthreatening way, with long hair but an undercut and usually a ponytail. He has a girlfriend. He does random young guy things that the internet world shares and likes, such as having a dog, carrying a designer bag, whatever. And some actual news, like he bought some old viking saga book for $120k to donate to his hometown, even though he's never been a reader he wants people to be able to learn about the place he's from. It's not like Beckham thing of the early 00s, where his looks also played a huge role and girls everywhere, even Japan, all loved Beckham more than basically any other public figure.

There's also a French soccer player who is considered the best in the world, Mbappe, but he doesn't have the star appeal Haaland seems to have. Also, Mbappe is maybe the best around right now, with Christiano and Messi past their primes but still doing well, but he's not great compared even with other Frenchies of this century. Most consider Zidane still the best French player ever.

The man on the date is like 6 or 7 on the priorities list for females, he says, after photos, validation, drinks, etc. Next step, prostitution, then after that chastity again.

In the prostitution phase, no man will go out with any woman unless he's sure she's chaste, and that requires a lot to prove, cause lies are common. At this point, it's not simply rational and case by case. It's a movement, a militant schema taken on by men in general to treat and demand certain things from all women, as default.
