This month we saw a new type of story in the advance of the US police state, with the arrest of someone for wiping their phone during an unconsitutional (because Constitution does not apply at borders/aiports in the US now) search of a citizen (for reasons like that he belonged to a politically unpopular group or something) and he was arrested, charge not totally clear, and then ICE's electric shock (non-brandished weapons they call ‘deescalation devices’) hit headlines. On the other side of it some small resistence from Americans, such as many city meetings and some public protests against Flock cameras (and Flock has been limited in many places, as well as more headlines for those who have access using it illegally/for tracking people they're interested in in their personal lives) and data centers.

Some have pointed out that everything that happens at a US airport (or border) is under duress. Their interactions with their authorities rely on their Consittutional protections which Americans currently don't think apply at airports. 

Also this month, we saw several stories of serious action by US citizens against Flock and other camera monitoring of civilians. For months we have seen events in peaceful town halls, but we started to see people wearing masks and hoodies destroying the cameras, similar to has been happening in the UK (by kinda large communities btw) for years. The support amongst internet commenters for these actions seems almost entirely positive. For a while now, the camera companies have been trying to evade detection and even using fake cameras, while on the other side tech guys (and some gals) are making devices that detect real cameras to find them.

Also this month we saw maybe the first recent citizen action against a house of a tech giant, in Argentina against Thiel's pad.

For a couplefew years, late night talk show hosts have been taking up the task of delivering news and education about the government's/bigtech's continued encroachment on civil rights, dedicating large chunks of their shows to this instead of comedy, although they successfully mix in jokes into these presentations, too. 

Mayor of LV says they're watching everyone all the time, ‘essentially Big Brother on steroids.’

The police, using the cities cameras which are everywhere, zoom on a guy who did nothing, just walking, becaues he had a ‘suspicious bulge’ in his jacket. They followed everywhere he went and watched everything he did for 15 minutes.

There is a company called Fusus that does connectivity for surveillance cameras in private businesses etc. They link those systems with the police so police can click of a button request footage and send that private footage to police, ie no warrant rigamarole. Basically the police just use the private businesses as free storage and free police work. They are letting Amazon's Ring cameras livestream to police. Renalto in Cali has made signing up with Futus and policy-making so that security cameras ‘shall be accessible to tthe Rialto PD through FUSUS' contingent to setting up a business there.

Shotspotter, a similar company but for audio not video, sets up microphones all over cities. Data in news reporting by Fox9 showed ‘MPD responded to Shotspotter 8500 times’ and ‘80% of the time no evidence of a gun-related crime.’ The purpose of the microphones, so they say to get them installed, is to listen for gunshots. Only 32 of those 8500 let to an arrest, ie 0.4%.

Automatic licence plate readers, Flock, record every car that passes and record the location, shared with police (govrenment), no warrant required. 37% of ALPRs are misreads, pulling over drivers wrongly, including that footage of pulling parents out of their own car and pinning them on the ground with their guns on them, their kids also pinned on the concrete hands behind their backs in a parking lot or something. The stolen vehicle was a non-SUV vehicle from another state, and they were in a SUV in Colorado.

If you are at a protest or abortion clinic, yeah, you're recorded. ICE has access, revoked now? but still able through local law enforcement.

Stingray sniffing all cellphones in an area. It can't be targetted, it has to pull in all internet connecting devices in range. Cell-site simulators, we don't know how often they do it because FBI forced ‘secrecy obligaitons’ on usage by police departments, so they can't tell the public if they want to.

All these systems spill into predicive policing systems. Santa Cruz started predictive policing in 2011. Other cities since then include LA, Chicago, St Louis, Atlanta, and Philly.

One police officer in Oliver's videos criticized predictive policing, ie sending police to (sometimes wrongly) somebody's house to harass them and check up on them dozens of times, ‘where they are likely to engage people in a negative way, then that becomes a problem.’ The effect is also partially racist, which maybe should activate blacks and Jews a bit more but really isn't germaine (and is divisive) to the real problem which applies to everyone.

We now also have dozens of public cases of police officers using ALP to stalk romantic interests.

It takes a lot of work currently to expose what systems cities etc are using. Too much work to expose, said Oliver.

Since 1931 (partially due to the Tommy Gun and sawed off shotguns) the NFA was made to psuedo-constitutionally restrict some weapons, which because they can't constitutionally do it to the guns, they made a $200 tax and regulated the tax, so these politicians in Texas worked to eliminate the tax, making all those things legal.

DOJ hasn't yet responded, basically, it seems.

Shouldn't the town after such incidents be able to try their city workers ie police, of such rulings, so the citizens don't have to pay for things like this, which are clearly against code, just because they have a police force? Like put it in the police contracts, not that they'll for sure be liable, but that the city can try them afterwards and they are liable to be found liable. Even if you want to put a high bar, understanding that police are not supposed to be and can't be highly scholarly, to try to only effect the obviously highly egregious actions.

These two women got together and went out and got signatures, and got double the number of signatures to put the issue to a vote.

The lawsuit alleges the petition ‘has unsupported facts,’ is a ‘zoning restriction disguised as a nuisance ordinance,’ and it ‘administrative in nature’. And doesn't fall under the citizen petition process, ie the city government doesn't want there to even be a way for people to oppose.

If this works for the city, the people said, this will be what every other city does to control its citizens, too.

Step one, tell the public you're going to make hate speech laws against the most greivous types of speech. Step two, shortly thereafter use hate speech laws against all kinds of things, and just say those things are ‘hate’ when they have nothing to do with hate. By this time, it seems Trump has taken the form and impression of a regular president, in large part. Not totally. 

It's always been said that once they get in office they become the same. It seemed impossible with Trump (and somewhat with Obama), because he was so different, his statements and policies so different, his situation and relationship with the press and SM. But one and a half years into Trump 2.0 he's almost blended into a regular president. Same wars and types of statements about the wars, same oppressions and capture of US citizens rights, same disregard for working and middle class, same relationships that benefit self and circle with money, tech, power. He does more transparency with the press, speaks always it seems fairly openly, but in the current era it doesn't seem to matter because the unethical or nondiplomatic things someone says now have no one to really counter them or take issue, and ignored they have the same weight as not said by previous leaders. The general public, most of all, has the same general stance and position towards him as all the previous ones, most displeased, don't like what he's doing with the country, disagree with almost everything he does, with all the events taking place in the country and internationally, many have reduced conditions because of them, are aware of the civil and constitutional rights losses, but sort of are just waiting it out for him to leave office.

This is tied to government spending. This week, Trump and E. Warren agreed they want to raise the debt ceiling (have no debt ceiling at all), so spending (which is nonproductive in this case) just causes inflation (although the citizens need a new word for this, like devaluation, because they don't understand the word inflation).

These guys are in the news because yesterday they got margin called last week by all their lenders on their like $400m pf. Last week there was a general AI/chip selloff, partially for reasons mentioned above.

His new $400m bet is on a private company. His move is seen as a ‘statement of confidence.’ It shows investors the fund still has capital to blow and remains committed to its AI holdings.

This month we saw the start of the fight between citizens and tech/tech elite in the USA, with the refusal of a grand jury to convict a man who destroyed flock cameras. This means the rebellion is at least fairly widespread and permeated in the civilization. It also demonstrates an interesting point. The devices used by the tech-wielding controlling class are isolated from society, ie they can be destroyed in an isolated manner, a traditional challenge in modern protest. It also raises the issue that while a society (particularly a massively propagandized-and -lied-to and misled one) will often go along with oppressive and harmful laws and government for any amount of time, at some point the more illegitimite the laws and government have become, the more open they are when the idea of simply opposing cooperation starts, like when eveyrone hears you can just decide to not convict people for breaking the government's laws.

There were reports of AI models hacking into things, and some insinuation that they did this of their own volition, but most people didn't bite, since AI CEOs have been doing this tactic for years now. Minimal research following these headlines found that they were just obeying prompts and it was not a particularly high percentage success rate for the hacking project.

HuggingFace actually used an open source Chinese model (improved by Nvidia) to defend themselves against an American, Whitehouse-friendly company that couldn't control what it built.

Years ago on this blog we asked, 'WIll YouTubers become more hated than police?' (because police are like the most hated profession, in places where they do a lot of harm as well as good). 

Are influencers in the same class as Flock? 

Like police, influencers cause problems for people for their own / their company's benefit. They film people without consent, the do public stunds that involve non-willing participants, and their effect on society is degrading in general. Like police, this only refers to some but those some are enough to make it an issue. There are YouTubers and influencers who don't film strangers, and produce content, and police who don't abuse civil rights and protect the community from actual (not just legally indicated) harms. Also, their malpractice often psychologically causes them to dig in and adopt a position insensitive to the community members they effect.

They seem also though to see a need for society to be saved by a segment of society that thinks of itself as its own sovereign tribe against the death trap society around it. And empower itself by that.

The percentage of people who don't have a stake in preserving ‘the death trap’ is increasing.

Samo also proposed in this one that gerontology societies are youthful, because power is passed to younger people, as opposed to meritocracies (and societies where peer circles are within a very similar age).

He advises against putting all the women in one place. All the women have their own mansion in their own state, their own environment. You want to make sure everyone is treated equally though.

I would like to know how he structured his marriages legally. Also, what happens when the women get lonely, after not seeing their husband for another several months?

Supporters of the Tates had a public rally in Miami, doing pushups for the cause. SM makes jokes, but the important thing here is people coming together and being unified, and not accepting persecution.

There is so much race-baiting content on SM now, especially FB, that even if you don't engage it is a ton. Like a huge, creative range of content made to make races hate or form prejudicial ideas about each other. Not sure who makes these accounts, because I don't see how they could be monetized, so perhaps it is a government/shadow government idea to cause race hatred right now.

They also flood your short videos section of your feed with LGs, even if you don't interact with them, it's like almost always just all LGs. Probably baiting, also, but also could just be that no one else really makes that type of content.

There's a Tinder-style app called Bumble, a couple years ago it became popular because it didn't allow men to message first, which women thought they wanted. But they just switched their policy so men can message first, because almost 70% of women said they'd rather men made the first move.
