Jerry Sandusky gets hearing to explore sexual abuse recantation claim (apnews.com)

“I was told — both directly and indirectly — that trauma may have fragmented my memory, and that I could safely affirm details I did not fully recall. I was assured this was common and even expected,” R.R. said in an affidavit filed by Sandusky’s attorneys.

The AG said the recantation was suspect.

“I apologize that I’m unable to admit remorse for this because it’s something that I didn’t do,” Sandusky said during a 2019 court appearance.

Multiple people arrested across Central Florida for illegally harvesting saw palmetto berries (youtube.com)

Because they're valuable, 15-20m pounds of Fla's annual yield was being picked years ago, often by companies that payed $60 per 100 pounds, and not on their own farm land, but on public land, it seems, and there was trespassing on private land (even if the owners didn't care about the berries they didn't want people trespassing on their land). Picking the berries prevents new seedings which degrades the plant's presense. It is one of the foods of bears and tortoises there.

Ie profitable enough that people would just do it until there isn't any more, which we've seen with other species.

The Supreme Court Changed. What Now? (youtube.com)

‘Shadow docket’. US law made without being public. Deporting men to countries they aren't even from. Immigration agents can racially profile people. Allowing states to redraw election lines while an election is underway. Justices don't even have to sign their names to the votes. Alito tried to use the term ‘emergency docket’ instead, ‘but that doesn’t really capture what's happening here, but appealing to the ‘emergency docket’ lets you bypass the lengthy, public, recorded and rationalized merit docket (oral arguments and levels of courts).

There's no real way to know how many cases have been done on the Shadow Docket. 2003-2025 around 27k applications, mostly boring (extending deadlines, capital punishment cases, which are actual emergencies). In 2025 ‘Substantive Shadow Dockets' with all 9 justices vote had 63 cases and 56 on merits docket, the first year it became more common.

Pattern is they are used to 'enable Trump.' Politically motivated votes.

Media ban backfires, leaving Trump silenced (youtube.com)

Trump had a ribboncutting. He banned CNN, Politico and MSNOW from the White House, and the other news agencies in solidarity didn't attend. Trump friendly agencies like NewsMax did attend, but some botched their video coverage.

The three banned filed a First Amendment lawsuit. Trump tweeted against the three and the judge (appointed by Trump though).

A Vancouver strip club, on its billboard at its door, puts funny and enticing phrases, and they put ‘CANT HANDLE A POOL BUT WANTS OUR LAKE?’, and within 3 minutes of posting a picture, the owner's personal account and the Penthouse (the strip club) account were closed and the content taken down. Blockading the port of Dover – how a few hundred organised men can achieve great things (youtube.com)

The men all wore a black ‘uniform’, there had been no warning and no social media posts. (They may have used telephones.) There was no problem, no threats, no intimidation. The men behaved in an orderly and efficient way. No hooliganism or disorder. They left after making their point. ‘This was essentially a military operation.’

There is an issue in the UK, where a law on the books says any people assembled wearing ‘a uniform’ and having any political purpose ‘shall be guilty of an offense.’

Is all black a uniform? I would say no, because a uniform involves a standardized symbolism of identificatoin. This is the opposite.

The reception of non-participants in Dover was approving and welcoming, he says. People waved and shouted encouragement.

He pointed out that next time the police will probably attempt to order everyone to remove their masks. But, he notes, to enforce that the police would have to outnumber them. Which raises a question about protests outside metropolitican centers.

While watching this video my internet disconnected and when I rebooted the video was not in my YouTube History.

Anotehr video on the subject from a regular UK vlogger. It seems part of the UK government's anti-protest reaction is to try to frame the participants as negative because they covered their faces, and that will be interesting to see if we've reached the point where that previously-socially-invalidating thing is now supported broadly. As well as the afore-mentioned law to try to say uniforms and political purpose together constitute a crime.

Any real government would prevent this by closing these databases off, which requires some manual effort to retrieve the records when requested and moved to a connected machine, but is the only way.

Besides the IDs, travel documents, medical cards.

Not only that, but as I've mentioned before, the loose insecure practices of local and especially internatoinal governments with IDs and photographing IDs, the government should issue secondary coded IDs to use in other countries without actual identifying info.

The government hasn't even put out a PSA on ‘What can people even do now?’ Nothing. They also just took down the marketplace where it was being sold, and didn't put up anything where people can search if their ID was in the ‘leak’.

They bring up one of the most ridiculous info security issues I've been talking about for 5 years (and got agressively downvoted and criticized every time I raised the issue, even in privacy forums). Hotels shouldn't be able to scan or photo your ID. In some countries it's illegal to do so, but in some of those they do it anyway, for the same ‘security’ reasons. Even when a hotel scans your passport, they should only need that info for 10 seconds while they check you in and then delete it, but legally they can keep it ‘for as long as then need it.’

This is Australia, one of the stupidest modern countries. Comments were turned off for the video.

I don't think the US allows hotels or anyone to photo/scan IDs. You show your id and the reception writes out the info on their sheet.

The people who's passport photos were stolen are advised not to travel with their passports because it can be dangerous because criminals who steal passport photos can use it for fraudulent ie criminal purposes. How do you prove that wasn't you?

One of the most significant ways Trump has been negative is making everyone's day (not just in America, but turn on the news in any country) more about politics. He has created so many controversial news stories, with positions that create so much emotion and aggression in people, that everywhere, daily ideas and thoughts in larger part revolve just around politics/US politics. Culture

Why marketing isn't working anymore (strategy pro explains) (youtube.com)

He says we have had a ‘war on friction’ for years. Anothe blogger this week posted about how optimizing for happiness is not moral but that's what has been done recently, he meant that even unethical happiness or neutral happiness is considered a ‘good’ in the culture/society and is justification or reason to do things or organize things.

Friction held back sludge/slop. Friction is like a moat now.

Even good content that appears on his feed, he says ‘Well it looks like it, but,’ or ‘Well it looks maybe too good’, suspecting AI. Scepticism. Only trust/attachment to a brand will overcome that.

People aren't filtering harder, but instead just retreating to a small set of trusted sources.

It's almost like the 80s, he noted, when you actually had to break into the channels with institutional credibility.

His new marketing/product rule is ‘If it’s not difficult, it won't work.'

This is the list of things he says are still marketable. Being a fantastic speaker, good on camera, attached to some big brand name, having a serious title or qualification, knowing people worth interviewing, having good connections, having a real track record. Clooney's tequila sold, he didn't compete on quality of tequila, when n no other celebs were doing this (the idea scales down with suppliers).

She was happy as a child when she could fill her days with ‘getting lost in her own little world of arts and crafts, storybooks and dolls all day, with no knowledge of what harms exist in the world, what harm other humans do to each other and what you can do to others.’ Lol, you could've just got married.

She was devoted to protestantism.

When she came of age, her idea was to explore the world and have as many experiences as possible. Maximize at this. And support her family. As she knew more and more about the world and how the system worked, she lost optimism and trust in the system, and ‘the more I knew about how things actually worked, my worldview, my personality, my hopes and my dreams have done a 180.’ You can kinda see how if she'd been sheltered as a wife, she might be optimistic and hopeful and happy, and her husband could return each day to such a person.

She's also from a poorer country (economically) so got an education and moved to a richer country and spent a lot of time much more alone than before.

‘And how others’ suffering and death and exploitation is what provides most of our comfort in the first world and our success.'

She also talks about how the 99% allow the 1% to exploit them. Significant focus on rich and not rich. Also that ‘the people who are ruthless and selfish are those who are going to be happiest,’ which is a trope of course. She also referenced that NPC's give advice to focus on yourself and enjoy, and ‘life is what you make it,’ but she says ‘I don’t know if you wanna live in a world like that but I don't.' Are people just waiting for a revolution to join?

She also says she fakes NPCness all the time because she fears being isolated if she didn't. She says none of her faf or her boss would understand her.

She regularly watches other existentialist YouTubers.

Part of her strategy includes ‘stopping trying to overcome anything, stopped trying to heal anything, Stopped trying to frame the negative things as positives. I don't believe in that BS anymore. ... I need to lie to myself... I can't save the world, nor can I be saved by it.'

The DEI tradeoff is worse than you think (youtube.com)

But the ideas are not permeating the edges or corners of mainstream. Here is the National Post.

This seems possibly or likely the time to start public revolution of culture. The society is ready for it. The viciousness of men as it sinks in they have been denied and punished for what they could have had and were prevented, the bitterness, will be irrepressible. The men who have known for 15 or 20 years as it has progressed, some of them fully and some partially, will be extremely bold and confident once these things are publicly vindicated. The other side will probably have to remain silent even in the face of overreach by the masculine rebellion. Calls to doubt will be laughed at, calls to self-restrain will be scoffed.

The start to this phase might have been a couplefew years ago, when Pearl and Hoemath and that psychology YouTuber Orion started taling about and educating on it. (At that time, the widespread example of OF and similar trends were extreme, as well as female dating practices on apps, combined with reversals of DEI trends and the extreme pushing of culture with politically supported Trans and Woke, and less-so public examples of falsely charged or denounced university student males, etc, and before that time no one spoke truthfully or counter-the-narriatve about it publicly who had any followers.) Once the idea caught on, tons of bloggers talked about it, not all intellectual or critical. In recent months, it's on mainstream media, mostly in Opinion pieces, but still isn't really in the mainstream, like most people you talk to, who watch only the 6 O'clcok news and their echo-chamber fakenews on Facebook, won't yet know what you're talking about 8 or 9 out of 10 times. But unlike 5 or even 3 years ago, you will be surprised that randomly someone you're talking to knows what you're talking about and has already watched some things on it and considered the ideas a bit.

I Ditched My Phone's SIM Card for a 5G Hotspot (youtube.com)

Big telecom companies require tons of personal info just to use their cell service, but they have been proven to sell your data, and further, they are not capable of protecting it, proven by large data breaches of their companies. Not only did T-mobile give/get hacked your data if you used their service, but even if you were a ‘prosective customer’ ie they bought your data from someone, they gave the data of those people away/got hacked also. SINs, addresses, full legal names, DOBs, government ID data. AT&T gave up/got hacked for records of call and messaging data for 109m customers.

He's using the Calyx 5G hotspot. They do data minimalization. They don't want your data so don't collect it, so no one can get it from them. $750 for first year and $500 for subsequent years, unlimited data, cheaper than unlimited data for any major US carrier (which is $45 to $65). They require your address to send the device to you, but there are more private ways the vlogger describes. He gave Calyx a name (not legal name), email, mailing address and money order. No actual vulnerable personal data.

Calyx's hotspot runs on Tmobile so they can see the network and towers, but you can minimize the info tying that info to your user. He uses an always on encrypted VPN. So the cell tower can see the hotspot, but cannot see the phone connected to the hotspot.

The device is as big as two phones stacked, and its battery runs 5-12 hours. (5 hours with 5 devices connected.)

F-Droid 2.0 - The Biggest Update In Years (youtube.com)

Because Google's phones are going to start being locked down for sideloading/alternative app stores to Play Store. In about 150 days, Google Android will require you to go to dev mode on your Pixel (if your Pixel is even unlocked), then go through a bunch of warning screens and turn on ability to install from other sources, then wait 24 hours before you can actually install any apps (which is the main thing cause if you buy a new phone you will have to wait 24 hours before you can install any apps this way, or you can immediately install using Google's ecosystem). Then load apps with adb, needing a second device, a terminal, a cable, etc.

Google Play Store is the source of much ‘Google approved’ app malware installs. The warnings aren't bad, cause 95% of phone users are irresponsible, but the 24 hours period stops even those who know something about app responsibliity from using their device their way.

One country after another giving the green light to agencies to cancel bank accounts without warrants or without sentencing. One after another forcing ID verification to use devices. One after another passing laws prohibiting vague types of speech, subject to their judgement of whether your speech qualifies. One after another passing laws against protesting in public. One after another taking guns from citizens. It's just a constant stream and no country seems to be moving in the other direction. Is this what preceeded the ‘Age of Revolutions’ in the 1700s? It obviously has a lot further to go before it touches regular people that way, but there is a point at which people just break from the system entirely and want a new one. Maybe it's because no one has presented a new one yet, so people are depressedly resigned to a hopelessness that any effort, any revolution, will just transfer power from one harmful government to another set of people doing the same, and maybe with increased powers and reduced constraints.

Georgiatown is in a bit of a political fight with the government because the government wants it to end all DEI, and DC said it wouldn't consider Georgiatown students for internships, fellowships, whatever, until Georgiatown complies.

(Centralization and Legal Reform. Henry I expanded royal justice and taxation. But this meant local courts lost power, and royal agents (like Basset) could act with brutality and impunity.)

prototype of the royal bureaucrat: not a noble or warrior, but a manager of justice, law, and money.

Henry was building a more centralized, top-down state—and justice was a weapon of that state.

The word guild here probably refers not to trade guilds, but more broadly to arbitrary legal associations or enforcement gangs. It may mean groups that enforced fines, tributes, or private justice violently—possibly semi-official or corrupt extensions of royal power.

How much clout did Trump lose with his base/voters when he fell out with Musk?

This month some very unpopular things. The giant, inclusive tax bill that not only raises government spending but also includes so many things it will be a decade before anyone even understands what is in it. No one can read it it's so long. Basically everyone is against this bill and even his supporters say he should have pushed harder. Assumed or presumed complicity in Israel-Iran attacks. Fallout with Elon, unfriendly words with Tucker.

Sacks doing basically propaganda on the All-in, showing charts that people ‘favor’ his bill, his actions against California protests, which I think he would have pointed out the flaws if he was still just a regular host of the pod.
